Sanctioning Info & Fees
All judo clubs in Ontario holding regional tournaments, provincial tournaments, or other events that are not part of regular club programming, are required to apply for sanctioning 60 days prior to the date of the event. Once the event has been approved and sanctioned by Judo Ontario, an insurance certificate for the event will be issued and email to the club.
Payment of sanction fees and mat rentals will be confirmed once the event sanctioning is complete. Mat delivery will be the responsibility of the event host, and must be arranged directly with our transportation provider.
TOURNAMENT SANCTIONING FEE
- Club A – Full Shiai - $200
- Club A – Kata or Ne Waza Only - $100
- Club B - $25 (max of $150 per year if hosting multiple Club B events)
Judo Ontario will send an invoice for the sanctioning fee and this must be paid prior to final approval.
Payments can be made by cheque or through Square (credit/debit card)
REFEREE DEVELOPMENT FUND (RDF) SURCHARGE
Effective September 2018, a referee surcharge of $5.00 per athlete will be added to all CLUB–A tournaments. This fee will go directly to the referee committee to be used for referee development. This fee should be listed clearly in the tournament fee structure - eg. Shiai $55 + $5 referee surcharge = $60 entry fee. The fee is only collected per athlete, those entering multiple divisions would only pay the referee surcharge once.
This fee should not be added to the kata entry fee.
KATA DEVELOPMENT FUND (KDF) SURCHARGE
Effective January 1, 2023, a kata development surcharge of $5.00 per athlete (total $10.00 for a team) will be added to each entry at all CLUB-A tournaments. This fee will go directly to the kata committee to be used for the development of kata competitions and encourage the practice of kata in Ontario. This fee should be listed clearly in the tournament fee structure.
CAMP AND SEMINAR SANCTIONING FEE
- Seminar - $100
- Camp - $100
MAT RENTAL FEES
- Sanctioned tournament - $200 per event
- Camp/club event - $50 per day/per mat area
