Regional Novice Youth Competition

Location: Koseikan Judo Club Dojo, 801 Hochelaga Street East, Moose Jaw

Tournament Director: Michelle Wiens

Chief Official: T.V. Taylor

Chief Referee: Robb Karaim

Referee meeting: 9:45am

Eligibility: All athletes must be registered and in good standing with Judo Sask

Cost: $20 first division / $15 second division

Registration: Deadline is Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 9 p.m.

Start Time: Check In 9:00am - 10:00am Competition starts at 10:15am

Weigh In: There will be no official weigh in. Weights must be submitted online during the registration process on Trackie. Weight should be recorded wearing judogi pants and tshirt.

Categories:

Ne Waza:

•U8 (born 2018 and up – minimum white belt)

•U10 (born 2016-2017 – white to orange belt)

•U12 (born 2014-2015 – white to orange belt)

•U14 (born 2012-2013 – white to orange belt)

Tachi Waza:

•U10 (born 2016-2017 – yellow to orange/green belt)

•U12 (born 2014-2015 – yellow to orange/green belt)

•U14 (born 2012-2013 – yellow to orange/green belt)

Draws will be made based on entries. Age divisions and genders may be combined. Attempts will be made to get all competitors 3-4 matches.

Order of competition: Ne Waza U8, U10, U12 and U14 followed by Tachi Waza U10, U12, U14

Draw Format for Ne Waza:

•U8 These will be exhibition matches to allow coaches and competitors to be on the mat at the same time to learn the ne-waza tournament system. These matches will be 1 minute and 30 seconds in length, straight time, no scoring. All competitors will receive a medal.

•U10, U12, U14 Draws will be made for the divisions based on entries. A round robin pool system will be used where each entrant will compete against the other pool members These matches will be 2 minutes in length straight time with no scoring. All competitors will receive a medal.

Draw Format for Tachi Waza:

•U10, U12, U14 Draws will be made for the divisions based on entries. A round robin pool system will be used where each entrant will compete against the other pool members These matches will be 2 minutes in length straight time with no scoring. All competitors will receive a medal.

Tournament Guidelines:

•Modified Judo Canada rules to be used.

•The tournament committee reserves the right to make changes in the best interest of the athletes.

•All competitors must have a white judogi. Blue judogis can only be worn when the athlete is the second competitor in a match. All judogis must be regulatory size.

•No use of bleeding dyes on the body or hair of competitors is allowed. In cases such use is undetected and results in damage to the equipment of the opponent or the tatami, the competitor will be disqualified and the member will be charged for the damage.

•Females must wear a plain white short-sleeved rounded-neck shirt under their judogi.

No pants below the knee to be worn under the gi pants (shorts under the gi pants are allowed)

•Hair must be worn up above the shoulders (male & female), hair bands can not contain any metal or hard plastic.

•All piercings, jewellery and bracelets must be removed.

There will be a concession on site operated by the Koseikan Parents Group.

As there are members with severe food allergies, please do not bring outside food into the dojo.
