Coach 2.0 is a program for up-and-coming Judo BC competitive coaches to increase their knowledge and experience and culminates with a coaching seminar in Italy in June/July 2025. Travel and accommodation will be provided free of charge, or at a minimal charge, to all selected coaches. Coaches that do not meet the criteria or coaches that are not considered “up-and-coming” will have the opportunity to attend on a self funded basis with the approval of the Sport Development Director.

Eligible coaches
• Minimum NCCP: Dojo Instructor certified
• Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents
• Must be Judo BC and Judo Canada member in good standing

Selection criteria
• Attend 5 Provincial/National training camps as a coach
• Attend 3 competitions as a coach outside of BC
• Attend 1 coach’s seminar/clinic eligible for NCCP PD points
• Attend 8 regional/provincial practices
• Have at least one athlete on the Judo BC Provincial Team Program
• Have completed a minimum of 3 of the 6 NCCP competition development modules

Selection process
Begins July 1, 2024
Coaches who want to be consider must register online with Judo BC for the program no later than June 30.
8 to 10 coaches will be selected, maximum 2 per club.
Final selection will be in May 2025.

If more than 8 to 10 coaches are eligible based on the selection criteria, the Sport Development Director/Head Coach along with the Coaching Development Committee Chair will select the top 8 – 10 coaches based on the following:

1. Demonstrated commitment to the Judo BC HP team program
2. Demonstrated commitment to the Judo Canada LTADM at the regional & club level
3. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing coach development - movement along the NCCP Coach Pathway within the past 2 years and accumulation of Professional Development Points as outlined by the Canadian Coaches Association.
4. Coach Potential – as assessed by Sport Development Director/Head Coach & the Coach
Development Committee Chair
a. Work habits
b. Coach-ability
c. Willingness to increase knowledge
d. Age/pathway – i.e. coaches age vs where they are on the coach pathway

Coaches not selected as one of the 8 – 10 funded coaches may attend on a self funded basis with the approval of the Sport Development Director/Head Coach.
