Other Information
Judo BC is excited to announce the return of the 2025 Monday Night Kata Sessions, running weekly this Fall. Open to all judoka, these sessions offer a valuable opportunity to sharpen your technical skills, enhance your understanding of kata, and prepare for grading or upcoming kata competitions. BC Winter Games athletes are especially encouraged to participate—kata training develops core judo principles such as discipline, body awareness, and precision that benefit both kata and shiai. For the first time, athletes selected to represent their zone at the BC Winter Games will have the chance to compete in both shiai and the new kata competition. Whether you're just starting with kata or looking to refine your form, join us each Monday to grow your judo and connect with the wider community.
The focus of these sessions will be Nage no kata however if there is a need other katas will be studied & practiced as well.
Class time: 8:30 to 10:00 pm
Please note the following:
Registered participants can claim Grading points and may grade up to Nidan under Technical stream providing they attend 9/12 of the kata sessions.
Grading candidates must be pre-approved by Judo Canada (45 days prior to the grading) and are to attend the last two Monday kata sessions.
All Judo Canada members must renew their membership for the 2025-26 season prior to registering for these kata sessions. To renew - https://registration.judocanada.org/membership/
